© 2013 The Cochrane Collaboration. This is the protocol for a review and there is no abstract. The objectives are as follows: In the review we will address the following question: What is the effect of clinical pathways (CPWs) in primary care on professional practice, patient outcomes, and costs? The secondary objective of this review is to explore the factors that may explain variation in effectiveness of CPWs.
