Yet a well supported aged care placement offers a potentially rich environment to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of dementia. The Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre Teaching Aged Care Facility (TACF) Program aims to identify effective structures and processes to provide students in the health care disciplines of medicine, nursing and para-medicine, with that opportunity. This symposium will present the findings from the prototype Wicking TACF program related to changes in dementia knowledge, understanding and experience across the student cohorts and issues that need to be considered in undergraduate education to facilitate student preparedness to provide care for people with dementia.
