The platinum(II) complex K [PtMe 2{(pz) 3BH-N,N′}] reacts with SnCl 2Me 2 to form Pt(SnClMe 2)Me 2-{(pz) 3BH-N,N′,N″}([(pz) 3BH]-=tris(pyrazol-1-yl)borate). The closely related complex Pt(SnMe 3)Me 2-{(pz) 3BH-N,N′,N″} has distorted octahedral geometry for platinum with Pt-Sn 2.5727(8) Å. The Pt-N distance trans to the SnMe 3 group [2.237(7) Å] is longer than those trans to the Me groups [2.127(7) and 2.131(6) Å], indicating for the trimethylstannyl group a trans influence which is higher than that for the methyl group.
