Myamyn Mill Congestion Investigation: An Analysis of Hardwood Log and Chip Operations at Myamyn and Related Upstream and Downstream Flows

report
posted on 2023-05-25, 17:17 authored by Mihai Neagoe, Paul TurnerPaul Turner

The SWF supply chain investigation was initiated following discussions regarding truck congestion experienced at the Myamyn mill and at the Portland Grain Corp terminal. The research team’s approach towards congestion was to treat it as a symptom of a complex problem with multiple potential causes.

The purpose of this report is to map the SWF log and wood chip supply chain and the technologies used in order to improve understanding of the company’s and its partners’ operations with the aim of uncovering potential gains at a supply chain level. The philosophy behind this approach is that most aspects of the supply chain are known to the stakeholders but aggregating them in a report can generate additional insights.
