chapter

Australian Cultural Heritage Management (ACHM) excavated Jundaru (HN-A9) and PAD 3 rockshelters in the Pilbara to investigate their cultural significance. The faunal analyses reported here may provide insight into animal use by indigenous Australians that once occupied the Hope Downs 1 region. Animal remains were investigated to identify the fauna and observe bone breakage, burning, modification and taphonomy. Potential cultural implications based on the faunal analysis are discussed.
