The Warrnambool and Corangamite Land Suitability Decision Making Framework Project was a Victorian Local Sustainability Accord Project funded by the Corangamite Shire Council, and the Department of Sustainability and Environment. The project also received in kind support from the Warrnambool City Council. Deakin University were engaged as the research partner and also provided funding towards the project. The Project was set in southwest Victoria and was developed with the objective to establish a land suitability and decision-making framework for Warrnambool City and Corangamite Shires. The Project’s objectives were to improve approaches to regional and local planning needs, to find ways to preserve highly productive agricultural land, protect and enhance the environment, whilst supporting sustainable regional development and settlement sustainability.
