Language learning strategy: Concept and implications
Language learning strategies (LLSs) have been enthusiastically researched by practitioners and scholars worldwide since the early 1970s. Favourable research evidence has been established on LLSs as an effective and workable component in the language learning process. One of the most general revelations on LLSs is that they are an influential factor in determining success in second/foreign language learning. Importantly, the capability to manipulate and manage strategies for improved language learning efficiency is of great pedagogical significance. This paper firstly presents the conceptualization of LLSs overtime and then discusses it main characteristics with implications for the profession.
