Abstract
Measurements of the ellipticity of the ice-water interface are reported for both the basal and prism faces of ice. The sign of the ellipticity indicates anisotropy of the water molecules in the interface region, and the data are consistent with a thickness - 1 nm and roughly twice as much anisotropy for the prism as for the basal face.
