Abstract
Careful design and rigour are crucial to the dependability of any research. Research that is well conceived results in research that is well executed and in findings that stand up to scrutiny. Thoughtful planning and the use of procedures to ensure that studies are rigorous should therefore be central concerns for qualitative researchers. The questions we ask, the cases and participants we involve in our studies, and the ways in which we ensure the rigour of our work need to be considered, these are hallmarks of any dependable research.
