Within the context of dimensional reduction the authors prove that the extraction of the axial anomaly necessitates ( psi mu , Lambda 5) not=0 if the axial current has the bilinear structure i Psi gamma mu Lambda 5 Psi . The desired properties of dimensionally reduced Gamma 5 are given and they then show how to remove the inevitably entrained normal amplitude anomalies.
