Interview with Dr. Jenny Cobcroft, Co-Chair, World Aquaculture 2014, on this year's conference. Denny says aquaculture is the fastest growing primary industry globally. Denny says the World Aquaculture Conference is being held in Adelaide this week. Cobcroft says people often do not realise that this is such a big industry. Denny asks about GMI in aquaculture. Cobcroft says there are similar issues, such as disease, and sustainability, within the industry. Cobcroft says there is technology which allows water to be recirculated, allowing aquaculture to take place away from the sea. Denny asks about consistency. Cobcroft says they use manual-sorting to ensure consistent growth, adapting their methods according to the type of animal being cultivated. Cobcroft confirms that aquaculture is expensive and time consuming, which means many people involved in this sector are passionate about it. Cobcroft says there is a delegation of 80 people from China, which is a good thing, and they want to learn from them, and share information with them.
