Mechanics of sill emplacement: comments based on the Tasmanian dolerites

journal contribution
posted on 2023-05-16, 10:24 authored by Leaman, DE
Proposed mechanisms for sill emplacement may be tested by forms of intrusion displayed by Tasmanian dolerites. These intrusions suggest upward, fracture-controlled, magma passage with local bedding control from an array of feeding centres whose location was determined by basement structures and regional stresses associated with the basin intruded. Many published misconceptions about these intrusions can be resolved in these terms. © 1995, Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.
