Mechanics of sill emplacement: comments based on the Tasmanian dolerites

Proposed mechanisms for sill emplacement may be tested by forms of intrusion displayed by Tasmanian dolerites. These intrusions suggest upward, fracture-controlled, magma passage with local bedding control from an array of feeding centres whose location was determined by basement structures and regional stresses associated with the basin intruded.
