Abstract
I am pleased to contribute this editorial to the first issue of the Australian Journal of Maritime and
Ocean Affairs published by Taylor and Francis. This is an exciting development in the life of the
journal. The most obvious result of the partnership with Taylor and Francis is a new cover and
style but the benefit to subscribers, readers and contributors goes much deeper. The inclusion
of the journal in the Taylor and Francis ‘family’ provides access to subscribers to Taylor and
Francis resources (including books and journals), significantly greater reach for publications in
the Australian Journal of Maritime and Ocean Affairs (including new arrangements for publication
on line) and opens up even greater opportunities for contributions within the journal’s
areas of interest.
