Wallpapered topographies

Wallpapered Topographies responds to the unique space of Outward. Works on paper activate architectural features to offer an immersive viewing experience. The landscape beyond the gallery is negotiated in the ink paintings and prints where marks, patterns and surfaces reference rock formations, vegetation and perceptual experiences in local, natural environments. Drawn from my interaction with sites as a rock climber and artist, these interpretations emphasize tactility of ink and paper with illusory 3D qualities and visual plays on indeterminate scale. Paintings and prints occupy an uncertain position as a sort of wallpaper suggestive of domestic interiors yet declaring preciousness in their hand painted execution.
