Abstract

Ted Vining, Alistair Dobson, Nick Haywood, Kelly Ottaway are TANK. Australian jazz legend, drummer Ted Vining and internationally acclaimed bassist Nick Haywood have both relocated to Hobart recently and have formed this band with two outstanding Tasmanian musicians in saxophonist Alistair Dobson and pianist/vibraphonist Kelly Ottaway. Since early 2011, TANK has established a collective language that is sometimes inside, sometimes outside and always exciting. With inspiration from musicians like Ornette Coleman, Thelonius Monk and Cannonball Adderley, the band plays hard swinging jazz with high levels of inspiration and deep commitment to free expression.
