A live case study approach to management education
conference contribution
posted on 2023-05-23, 08:10 authored by Schonell, SH, Macklin, RBThis paper reflects on the use of the live case study (LCS) assessment method in a post graduate unit. The LCS approach is used across a variety of subject areas however its use is not extensive in human resource management units. We describe our approach and provide critical reflections on its use in the light of our experience and feedback from students and the case study company. We conclude that the LCS method is an extremely valuable approach with many of the advantages claimed for it in the literature. We recommend that it become an essential part of any post graduate program. Nevertheless, we also suggest that the approach is not straightforward and is accompanied by some uncertainty and risk.
