Abstract
This chapter examines the challenges facing international research students in an Australian university context. There are common challenges facing all international students and there are some specific challenges facing those who undertake research degree courses. The following barriers are identified: language, learning styles, quality of supervisors, supportive environment, cultural differences, and physical health and psychological well-being. Some recommendations are provided at the end of the discussion.
