Professional learning for school leaders: What do we know?

journal contribution
posted on 2023-05-17, 18:56 authored by Cranston, N
In a context that now recognises the importance of school leadership to quality schooling and student learning, this article examines the literature regarding the professional learning of school leaders and the professional learning offerings and activities evident in a number of leadership institutes/bodies across the world. From these reviews, and with particular reference to Australian contexts, several key messages are synthesised for policy makers and school leaders to consider in designing and delivering such professional learnings, as both groups seek evidence-based pathways to enhancing the ongoing learning of school leaders in these rapidly changing and challenging times. In conclusion, some suggestions for further research are offered.
