Abstract
Curated by Dr Kim Lehman.
The works, based on photographs made in rehearsals for a number of Tasdance's main seasons, explore tensions in movement and rest as dancers interpret, create and express choreographic visions through contemporary dance.
The works enlist layering, montage, colour and digital effects to create an almost ghostlike appearance to scenes. 'Freeze-frame' images made with short exposures are combined with 'motion-blur' images of long exposure to create a perception of movement that is in fact there, but cannot be capturing by the camera.
