How will nano-sensor technology affect logistics management

A nanosensor is an improvement in sensor technology, which is based on the use of structures provided by recent advances in nanotechnology, such as nanowires, nanotubes and nanopores. This paper reviews the recent application of nanosensor technology in the field of logistics management, from packaging, storage, distribution, tracking and tracing and safety. This review suggests that, even with a clear focus on how nanosensor technology may help improve logistics management chains, the next area of research must be to investigate whether an awareness of the technical advances and benefits alone will be sufficient to overcome resistance by participants of logistics organisations and accelerate the adoption of these technologies by businesses to enhance the efficiency of logistics and service creditability.
