Abstract
A total of 27 original research or review articles covering wide range of diverse issues in forest restoration are included in this special issue. These papers are divided into four sections: (1) Ecosystems restoration: strategies and needs; (2) Producing plant material to resist stress; (3) Prediction of field performance: morphological and physiological basis; and (4) Site preparation for restoration: effects on site microclimate and subsequent plant response under harsh conditions.
