Williams, JD and Gould, T and Dobson, A, The Subtlety of Time, Hobart Town Hall (2012) [Performance]
This performance featured new music of Tony Gould, including his major work, 'The Subtlety of Time' and his Saxophone Concerto, with Alistair Dobson as soloist. Williams prepared the strings of the Jan Sedivka Camerata for what was the first major collaboration between the Conservatorium contemporary and classical departments.
In this gala event, Williams conducted the Funf Stucke Op. 44 of Hindemith chosen especially to complement the jazz works. A well attended performance fused the two forms of music making with great success, paving the way for ongoing collaboration and musical research. Such was the triumph of the string performance, Gould is planning to record with the Camerata in the near future.
