The Southern Gospel Choir (SGC) at St David’s concert was conceived as a way of the SGC providing a more traditional approach to choral music, in an environment that was conducive to both acoustic (un-amplified) singing, and one that reflected the ethos of the African American Spirituals which underpinned the repertoire for this event. As artistic director and chief conductor, Legg created all of the original arrangements of the music, including original songs based on the African American tradition (My Forever Friend), performed as soloist and accompanied the choir on piano. The concert sold out three weeks prior to the event, and returned $10,500 in box office sales.
