Abstract

Lawyers report having difficulty understanding some scientific evidence. This can hamper their ability to properly cross examine those presenting forensic evidence in court. It can lead to false convictions. Kate Cashman describes her PhD work investigating the extent of this problem and ways in which it may be alleviated.
