Abstract
A healthy rural workforce is critical for workforce participation and productivity. Using a strengthsbased approach, the study provides research evidence of farmer and fisher preferred occupation/industry specific protective behaviours to maintain physical and mental wellbeing. Aligning programs and services with the needs and preferred behaviours of farmers and fishers will assist uptake of programs and services, and better use of health resources. Community-based solutions are integral to strategies that address farmer and fisher health and wellbeing.
