Abstract
Gertrude Healy (1894-1984) was an outstanding Australian violinist who achieved recognition both nationally and internationally in the early part of the twentieth century. In 1948, she entered the Convent of Mercy, Ballarat East where, as Sister Catherine of Siena, she made a significant contribution to the musical education of the students at Sacred Heart College, Ballarat East as well as the wider Ballarat community.
