Abstract
The Melbourne International Guitar Festival was the initiative of Peter Lynch. Lynch was Festival Director, promoter and organiser of this the first such guitar festival to be held in Melbourne. Consisting of public recitals, masterclasses, workshops and various exhibits of instruments and print music, the Festival featured internationally recognised artists together with established Australian guitarists including John Mills (UK), Julian Byzantine (UK/Australia), Cobie Smit (Holland), Triptych (Australia - Peter Lynch, David Adams and Susan Ellis), Timothy Kain (Australia) and Jochen Schubert (Australia). The Festival received favourable reviews both nationally and internationally.
