Water-use efficiency of wheat in response to irrigation and N management strategies in Tasmania
conference contribution
posted on 2023-05-23, 17:14 authored by Tina AcunaTina Acuna, Geoffrey DeanGeoffrey DeanWater-use efficiency (WUE) for wheat production in Tasmania is highly variable on account of localised differences in climate and soil type and ranges from 7 to around 20 kg/ha mm. A sensitivity analysis of nitrogen and irrigation management showed that increases in both were required to maximise yields and WUE, but this is likely to be economically viable only for low to moderate water supply costs.
