Making scents of pest management for hardwoods

Nahrung, HF and Griffiths, M and Walker, PW and Hayes, A and Lawson, S, Making scents of pest management for hardwoods, Australian Forest Grower, 33, (4) pp. 24-25. ISSN 0156-448X (2010) [Professional, Non Refereed Article]

Pesticide use is contentious, and its application limited by requirements of certification schemes. Classical biological control is not feasible as the pest/eucalypt/natural enemy system is wholly endemic. Selection for pest resistant trees is possible, but limited by tradeoffs between growth traits and pest susceptibility.
