Abstract

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has now been used for more than 70 years to relieve menopausal symptoms, including hot flushes, sweating, insomnia and vaginal dryness1. While it remains the most effective treatment for these symptoms, controversy surrounds its safety profile.
