First report of the isolation of Escherichia coli 0157:H- in Tasmania

Escherichia coli 0157 is considered a causal agent of acute diarrhoea which ranges from mild watery to grossly bloody diarrhoea. This case report describes the association of Escherichia coli 0157:H- in a 12 year old boy with a clinical history of acute diarrhoea and is the first E. coli 0157 to be reported in Tasmania.
