Abstract

This volume of Australasian Music Research takes as its theme Music and the Australasian Media, reflecting the widening pool of new research in the field of reception studies and also the on-going research that is being conducted into the role of media organisations and cultural infrastmcture in shaping the development of music and music making in this region. The papers selected for inclusion in this volume approach this theme from a diversity of positions that is per se reflective of the catholicity of scholarly cultural engagement in Australia and New Zealand. The term media is variously defined with analytical discussion on topics encompassing press reviews and specialised music publications to radio broadcasting and multimedia composition.
