Chromium-based ethylene tri- and tetramerization catalysts have been evaluated with a combination of trialkylaluminium and borate cocatalyst activation. A remarkable effect on activity and selectivity has been observed and studied, and a cocatalyst-induced degradation pathway has been identified. © 2007 American Chemical Society.
