Abstract
The sublime involves not merely objective, physical vastness and infinity, but also one’s perceptual involvement and meditation on the experience, and this is at the heart of our experience of sacred architecture. Within this ongoing investigation of the photographic sublime, a sequence of 125 images of interiors of cupolas and domed ceilings of Europe’s sacred buildings have been documented.
