The compound [Pd(CH3)(PPh3)(N-O)] (N-O represents pyridine-2-carboxyIato (pyca)) has been synthesized and the structure determined. The compound crystallized in the monoclinic space group P21/c, a 8.4844(9), b 12.845(2), c 19.690(3) Å, β92.09(1)°, V 2144.4(5) Å3, Z 4, and was refined to an R value of 0.022 on 3551 F. The structure had a distorted square-planar geometry in which the donor nitrogen and phosphine ligands are trans. © CSIRO 2000.
