Abstract
Argo profiling floats have revolutionised our ability to observe the global oceans. The floats drift with the ocean currents and provide profiles of temperature and salinity every 10 days. When the floats reach the sea floor, they provide a measurement of water column depth. Because the floats often sample regions that are rarely visited by ships and therefore have poorly known bathymetry, information on water depth collected by floats that reach the sea floor, can be used to help improve our knowledge of ocean bathymetry.
