Abstract

Complications of social cooperation dominate fictional landscapes, just as they dominate our real world. We are constantly meeting people very unlike ourselves, indeed even strange, in our view, with whom we sense the need to cooperate and converse. But learning is crucial in such encounters, and fiction provides a safe yet intriguing avenue to facilitate this.
