Abstract
Those attending a field day to hear the latest research or new information are often left with the question "How does that information relate to my farm?" The uptake of new information can be hindered when people do not understand what the information means and why it is important to them, they may have problems interpreting the information, and/or they perceive the information to be irrelevant or false.
This presentation will provide tips on engaging your audience at field days by first understanding the context in which people are operating.
Participatory approaches to field work will also be discussed as a way of helping people integrate new information with existing knowledge. The same participants may serve as credible communicators of what they have learned.
