Makam Sultan Hussin Shah: VR museum for artifacts and ancient site reproduction

This exhibition presents a digital heritage VR experience, embodied in a transmedia storytelling approach to show museology VR content in a public setting. "Makam Sultan Hussin Shah: VR museum for artifacts and ancient site reproduction" features and ancient sultan's tomb presented as a 3D photogrammetry (constructed using multiple photographs of the artefact with computational photography technique) scanned model of the artefact obtained from the actual heritage site in Malacca. Sultan Hussin Shah (1776-1835), also known as Tengku Long and Tengku Embong, was the eldest son of Sultan Mahmud Shah III of Johor Empire. Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, intending to acquire Singapore for East India Company, acted by enticing Tengku Long from Riau to Singapore and installed him as Sultan of Singapore-Johor, titled Sultan Hussin Shah. A reimagined ancient virtual environment in a forest was created to compliment Makam Sultan Hussin Shah where the king rests in peace. SteamVR Standard Developer Kit (SDK) was used to create the room-scale VR as it allows visitors to walk around the VR environment and interact with some dynamic objects in the scene.
