Abstract
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains one of the most significant health care challenges of the 21st century. Prevention of CVD is, therefore, a public health priority and identifying individuals at an increased risk prior to developing overt CVD is crucial to minimise disease progression, and individual health and economic burden. Tools that can assess early CVD risk will increase capacity for informed risk stratification, early intervention, and support personalised management are thus urgently required.
