Abstract

According to the World Health Organization, the prevalence of overweight and obesity in children aged 5 to 19 has increased significantly from 4% in 1975 to 18% in 2016, representing >340 million children and adolescents worldwide. Simulated growth trajectories predict that 57% of today’s children will be obese by the time they are 35 years of age.
