Light-emitting diodes (LED) are regarded as the ideal replacement for traditional lighting sources. With the increasing utilization, the accumulating power capacity brings the input power quality into the concern. A LED driver is required to maintain good input power quality for minimal impact on grid. Single-stage LED driver is regarded as an effective solution for low-cost and low-power application. SIN and SIN^2 current references are recently proposed for single-stage LED driver. In this paper, a novel current reference based on the electric model of LED is proposed to further improve the input power quality compared with the SIN and SIN^2 references. Simulation results verify that the proposed current reference can significantly reduce total harmonic distortion (THD) of input current.
