Abstract

A day after the federal government announced a fleet of drones, helicopters and temporary stations to shore up Australia's interests in Antarctica, new research is warning about the human impact on the icy continent. The study shows that carbon pollution from engine fuels is accelerating the melting of the snow and that tourism is exacerbating the problem.
