Abstract
'The Road Back' is a prose poem concerning the past and present of Lake Pedder, drowned in 1972 but the subject of an ongoing campaign for its restoration. The work was commissioned by the Bett Gallery as part of the 'Disappearing' exhibition of 2021, which paired writers and painters and challenged them to respond to a provided brief. My collaboration was with eminent Tasmanian painter, David Keeling, whose painting, also titled 'The Road Back', was exhibited alongside my creative work.
