Abstract
David Hansen, Art Specialist for Sotheby's Australia, won the Australian Book Review's 2010 Calibre Prize2 with his essay 'Seeing Truganini'. The essay immediately struck a chord with a humanities establishment that for some time has been nervously shuffling its feet over assertions of Aboriginal rights and interests in art, history and academic inquiry in general that they have found increasingly problematic.
