Emergent home literacies: a challenge for educators

This research reports on research into the range of literate practices taking place in suburban families in one Australian site and considers the implications of these literacies for educators. It is argued that the literate practices and knowledges that are being developed in these homes, particularly those which focus on multimodal technologies, are of significance for educators.
