The species Galaxias auratus is assessed as Endangered based on its restricted range in Tasmania, Australia. It has an extent of occurrence (EOO) of 106 km2 and an area of occupancy (AOO) of 80 km2. There are two locations based on the threats of invasive species (Brown and Rainbow Trout) and water level management. The habitat is projected to decline based on drought.
