Cultural Awareness: Should it be taught, can it be taught?
This chapter examines the relationship between language and culture, before considering the meaning of cultural awareness in the content of language teaching, and the ways in which it is represented in policy and practice as exemplified in national curricula for language teaching. An exploration of the teacher's voice in research studies completes this exposition.
