Pitt-rivers
Pitt-Rivers was an early convert to Darwin’s evolutionary vision of nature and fascinated by its implications for understanding human societal and cultural development. His prime contribution to the fields of anthropology and archaeology was the creation of collections of ancient and contemporary weapons, tools, and other artifacts which he saw as illustrative of the evolution of human culture.
