For TR4, Prawat has collaborated closely with Raymond Arnold, director of LARQ (Landscape Art Research Queenstown), a non-profit studio-gallery in the Western Tasmanian mining town of Queenstown. A printmaker (and painter) with a national and international reputation, Raymond took part in TR1, when it was held in Manhattan during September 2010 (with five participants: Raymond Arnold, Valerie Gleeson, Prawat Laucharoen, Carmen Nicole Smith and Maile Yawata). In a gesture of reciprocation, March 2013 sees the Temporary Residency based at LARQ, in a geographical situation far removed from the cosmopolitan density of New York. While we may anticipate that the natural and heritage values inherent in this region will inspire the eight participating artists there is no compulsion for them to respond in any set way. The invitation is open and has been extended with the notion of “relational” arts practice and of interconnectivity between individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
